A patchwork cushion made from second hand and upcycled fabrics. The pattern is a play on the traditional Log Cabin block, a North American quilt pattern where narrow strips of fabric of equal width are stitched around a central square. Instead of using regular widths, I’ve opted to use the scraps in their original state, making a wonky and off-kilter design – I think it brings a lot of charm to the pattern. The back is made up of a patchwork of natural 100% linen scraps, as well as leftover pieces of my own hand-woven fabric in red and pink cotton. I hand made the buttons from mussel shells collected on the beach in Muizenberg.
- Patchwork front from upcycled fabric scraps that would otherwise go to waste.
- Handwoven fabric : cotton with a bit of linen and wool
- Handmade buttons from mussel shells
- Dimensions : 35 cm x 65 cm
- Inner : Goose feather and down, 35 x 65 cm (included)
It’s best to keep it out of direct sunlight as much as possible to avoid fading / discolouration.
