Portal II is made up from a small collection of carefully patched small scraps sewn together to form a larger textile. The colourful pieces of leftover linen, cotton and synthetic blends are surrounded by natural linen which was then carefully hand quilted with cotton to bring a new tactile dimension to the fabric, creating small ripples across the stretched surface.
This piece was laced (rather than stapled) to a stretcher frame to ensure its longevity, and framed in kiaat for easy hanging.
