This little weaving forms part IV of my Woven Sketch series from 2021. I used weaving and unpicking as a way to play with form and structure, and to help me discover new ways of creating within the bounds of woven fabric.
The warp used here is 30 year old second hand cotton dyed in a deep blue-gray, and the weft is second hand cream cotton. The sides are left unhemmed.
The weaving is shadow mounted and framed in Kiaat, and encased with museum glass (museum glass provides 70% protection from UV rays and is less reflective than normal glass, providing a clearer viewing experience).
Dimensions of artwork: 16,5 cm x 13,5 (including fringe)
Dimensions of frame: 24,5 x 21,5 cm
